President: Shahid R. Aziz, DMD, MD, FACS

Shahid Aziz is the co-founder of Smile Bangladesh. A 1st generation Bengali-American, Shahid has been leading a small team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to Bangladesh since 2005. To date, his teams have treated about 400 children and adults with cleft lip and palate deformities. In 2010, he performed the first mandibular distraction surgery in Bangladesh. Shahid is an Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Shahid is also an Attending Surgeon at UMDNJ – University Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ. He is a graduate of the Lawrenceville School and Rutgers College. Shahid received his dental degree from Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his general surgery and oral/maxillofacial surgery training at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center.
